National and Alamo has an exciting opportunity for a Rear Engine Bus Technician Mechanic. This is a Full Time opportunity at our bus maintenance center in Schiller Park, IL. The Rear Engine Bus Technician Mechanic performs car and bus service, repair, preventative maintenance, in-fleeting service, and buy back/turn back service according to National and Alamo policy and procedures. This is a position of considerable difficulty requiring the exercise of reasonable judgment and initiative. Performs all responsibilities with a focus on the needs of our customers and in accordance with our Quality Standards.

  • Ensures that all repairs and preventative maintenance are completed according to the manufacturer's specifications and guidelines.

  • Performs in-fleet service on new buses according to company policy and procedures, as required.

  • Provides safe and reliable service vehicles upon completion of repairs and preventative maintenance.

  • Performs vehicle service and repair to maintain company standards (e.g., maintain Bus Out-Of-Service at or below 20% at each of the fleet locations).

  • Maintains the work area in a safe and clean condition.

  • Performs related duties as required.


  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.

  • Must have 2 years of automotive training required

  • Must have a minimum of four (4)TruckASE Certificates and an Air Conditioning Recycling License (ACR 134) and/or Commercial Air Conditioning License

  • Must have a current and valid driver's license with no more than 2 moving violations and/or at-fault accidents on driving record within the past 3 years, and no drug or alcohol related convictions on driving record within the past 5 years (DUI/DWI).

  • Ownership of standard hand tools to perform basic maintenance and repair responsibilities preferred.

  • Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.

  • Must be able to work the following schedule:

  • Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
